About me:

My name is Alex Ornat, and I’m a first-year Digital Media student at York University. I have a passion for digital graphics and designing, but at the same time I’m interested in the way art is implemented into everyday life and culture. That is why I believe this program is right for me; for it bridges the aspects of design and behind-the-scenes implementation together. As for this course in particular, I am satisfied with the list of assignments and learning topics in front of me, and am anxious to attend the tutorials and learn how to use software that covers a wide range of media.

My favourite software is Photoshop. Inspired by a number of digital artists, I enjoy experimenting with various styles and methods. I’m a particular fan of the ‘grunge’ art style, as well as the ‘sleek’, ‘shiny’, and ‘modern’ types. I believe anything can be designed with Photoshop, which is why I consistently use it to let my imagination run wild. As a Digital Media student, I believe it is important not only to express yourself through art, but to innovate and explore different ways to do so (both creatively and practically).
